the photographer

Teo Kefalopoulos is a self taught fine art photographer based in Alexandria, Greece. After making some valuable first steps into classic landscape photography, soon after, the very essence of his relation with imagery evolved immensely through black and white fine art photography. He is currently focused to minimal and long exposure photography and is leading private and group workshops on location and online. Awards and photography contests are not on the list of interests as judging such a type of photo work in contrast to another is purely subjective and against the nature of fine art photography (or, quoting Zen Shin, "a flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it, it just blooms..."). He is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, UK and has received the distinction of Associate in Fine Art (ARPS - Fine Art), a very high standard of recognition. He is currently represented by Duncan Miller Gallery (USA) and Taunus Foto Galerie (Germany).

The presented works are the result of a continuous need to interpret the subject matter by turning "color blind". Once a scene or a subject qualifies as a frame, an alternative version of it is conceived and the intention is not to capture a moment but to create a custom presentation environment with the subject placed outside of the known time frame. This impulsive and inner-reflective process often involves the use of unusual photographic subjects, presented in an unconventional way.

Interest is put to the sense of minimalism, isolation and introvert mood. This is achieved by using specific capture techniques, customized lenses, filters and atmosphere-specific post processing. This type of photography is a continuous study on the aspects of a subject perceived as photographic art. Editing is kept to a level of close connection to the actual scene and by rejecting heavy photo manipulation, deceiving visual effects or compositing, the works always retain the value of genuine experience and memory of a scene. All displayed works bare carefully selected titles, a vital attribute of every work that is considered to be complete.
